The articles in Ungsinn are developed according to a specific methodology

The articles in Ungsinn are systematic reviews of evidence focusing on individual interventions. The research question underpinning these reviews is: "Is intervention X effective when implemented in regular practice in Norway?" This question is answered through the systematic collection and review of research and other documentation. The conclusion is summarised in an assessment and classification, where each intervention is placed into one of six evidence levels according to Ungsinn's criteria.

The authors of the articles in Ungsinn must possess high scientific competence and have undergone specific training. Two authors are responsible for the preparation of each article. From the Ungsinn editorial team, they receive the necessary materials from the intervention owner, the results of the literature search, and an author guide. The articles must follow a specific template to ensure quality and comparability. Classifications should be objective, and the rationale for the conclusions should be clear.

The editorial team decides which evidence reviews or updates should be conducted and requests selected authors to prepare the article. The authors must be independent, with no vested interests in the intervention (see the section on conflicts of interest and impartiality in the ethics declaration).

The editorial process:

  1. Ungsinn's administration conducts a literature search and invites the intervention owner to contribute information.
  2. Two selected authors draft an article following Ungsinn's template and submit the article via Septentrio to the editorial team for review.
  3. The editorial team evaluates the article and sends it to two scientific peers, a practice peer, and the intervention developer for review and comments.
  4. The editorial team considers the feedback and may request the authors to make changes to the article.
  5. The article is revised in a process involving the author, peers, and editor until it is approved by the editor.
  6. The article is published, and an intervention presentation is created or updated on Ungsinn.no. A news article about the new review is published on Ungsinn, sent out in a newsletter, and distributed on Facebook.

Authors are encouraged to read through Ungsinn's ethics declaration before starting the writing process.

The method and procedures for preparing articles are described in the criteria as well as in a separate author guide revised on 13.01.2025.
