Eludamos Doctoral Consortium at CEEGS 2025 (Wrocław University, Sept. 8, 2025)
Dear colleagues,
the editorial board of Eludamos: Journal for Computer Game Culture and the organizing committee of CEEGS have teamed up to arrange a Doctoral Consortium to take place during this year’s conference, held September 8-10, 2025, at Wrocław University in Poland. The consortium will take place on the first day of the conference (Sept. 8).
More details on the overall conference can be found here: https://ceegs.fsv.cuni.cz/ceegs2025/
We would like to invite doctoral students to submit full paper submissions (3-4000 words excl. references) by June 30th, 2025. Please submit your papers to the following email address: agata.waszkiewicz@kul.pl. You will be notified about the results by July 14.
The purpose of the Consortium is to offer feedback and help you transform your draft into a journal article. Your submission does not have to be journal submission-ready (the purpose of the Consortium is to offer feedback on your work-in-progress). However, please make sure that your submission contains a clear problem statement, research questions, a methods section, a theoretical framework, and a section on background and earlier research. Findings/results need not to be part of the draft, but can be briefly described or summarized.
Manuscripts should take a critical and reflective perspective, i.e., we will give preference to papers avoiding merely instrumental outlooks on game design and development.
Please note that while we hope you will consider submitting your work to Eludamos, participating in the Consortium does not mean an automatic submission nor a commitment to submit to the Eludamos journal. If you decide to submit with us (which we hope you do), your article will go through the usual editorial and peer-review processes.
During the one-day Doctoral Consortium, we will dedicate 30 minutes to each accepted paper. All drafts will be distributed to all registered participants at least two weeks before the event, so we will assume everyone has read every paper.
During the consortium, initially, authors will briefly contextualize their papers (targeted publication channel, degree of completion, specific weaknesses, …). To save time, we will refrain from summarizing content. Each paper will then be commented upon by two opponents – one peer doctoral candidate and one senior scholar. We aim at constructive and inclusive feedback. The remaining time is used for open plenary discussions and feedback.
The main purpose of the consortium is to help the authors develop papers suitable for peer-review processes in academic journals. After the event, the editorial board of Eludamos will contact selected authors and ask them to submit finalized versions of their papers for review at the journal. More info on Eludamos here:

In case you should have questions, please do not hesitate to contact the organizer of the consortium via the email shown above.
Since our discipline, unfortunately still is characterized by a palpable gender imbalance, we encourage authors of marginalized identities or backgrounds to submit their work.
We are looking forward to receiving your submissions.
Thanks and best wishes,
Agata Waszkiewicz
